milky shell

The milky shell is a sculpture that incorporates the properties of metal into the shape of a shell, which you may know but are not really familiar with.

At first glance, it is a common work to make living things from metal, but the natural modeling that metal originally has and the modeling that living things have are overlapped. I made it from the desire to get interested in the mysterious and interesting properties of metals that we do not know.

When any living thing is born, it builds its body from the state of being melted in muddy state, but in the same way, metal is once melted and refined in a high-temperature furnace called a blast furnace and molded into a tool that you usually see. In the process, metal loses its individuality and becomes a metal part or tool when it fits into a mold.

With the theme of the beauty of metal that cannot be pushed into such uses, I created it as a shellfish that lives in the Milky Way. Through this work, unique colors and shapes among metals.

We hope that you will be interested in the natural side of the new metal around you, triggered by the story of bismuth.
